No troubled water

7am at the club, the pool is empty. The calm water feels eerie .. ha ha ha .. no, feels great. Dive in for a few laps.

The blond dolls 娃娃们

Serena won over Lucie Safarova (4 February 1987; Brno, Czech) 7-6 and 6-4. She didn’t look good but managed to win.
Over the years, since Serena turned pro in 1995, there are scores of players, especially women from the former eastern block, Russia in particular. Anna Kournikova (7 June 1981, Moscow) is the same age as Serena and they both turned pro in 1995. Anna never won a singles title while Serena 17 grand slam titles alone.

Va sounds as dolls or babies in Chinese. Those 金发碧眼的娃娃们 don’t really amount to much. If my counting is right, since 1995 – they won total of 8, five are from Maria Sharapova:

  • Aussie Open: Sharapova 2008
  • French Open: Myskina 2004; Kuznetsova 2009, Sharapova 2012 & 2014
  • Wimbledon: Sharapova 2004
  • US Open: Kuznetsova 2004, Sharapova 2006

Russians are coming, Russian are coming, turns out to be unnecessary.
