The coach

The Williams sisters are meeting for the 30th time tonight. Serena leads 17-12 (10-5 in grand slams). Patrick Mouratoglou is Serena’s coach since 2012, and David Witt is Venue’s who began n 2002 as sisters’ hitting partner.

The match was quick, all Serena: 6-1 and 6-2. The huge at the net didn’t have the same feel as in 2015 – a little perfunctory 敷衍了事.

Court 17 on Day 4

@ the 2018 US Open. Eugenie (Genie) Bouchard has won her lawsuit against USTA on a different court but has yet to win on the court at USTA which I think is more significant for her, as a tennis player. She’s out in straight sets, even the crowd overwhelmingly rooted for her. Anna K (Kournikova) the Second?

Then came Frances Tiafoe, walks onto the court in an orange hoodie. The first game or two were great, showcased all his abilities … then Donald Young somehow took over him, or what?

The globe

2018.8.30 @ 4:39 pm, iPhone 8

Flushing Meadows–Corona Park
borough of Queens, NY

It’s called Unisphere, part of the 1964 New York World’s Fair. I feel it’s getting prettier every year. The pleasant environment can’t have it without the police. Thank you.

The cat fight @ Grandstand

Compare to Louis Armstrong stadium, the new Grandstand is more relaxed, spread out at US Open. Lower part is reserved for ticket holders (not sure purchased or comp). Caroline Garcia defeat Monica Puig, that match feels like raw cat fight. I’ve never watched Slone Stehphen playing live, so find her to be mild – ok, will have to watch her soon. Lucas Pouille and Marcos Baghdatis match followed, the French won in 4 sets.

Louis Armstrong: Day 4

This is the original center court @ the Open, which was free (no tickets required), now added a top section which is too steep, which is free but the bottom is fee based.  Part of the free portion has sections that are for subscribers (whatever it means). Although it has a roof, but the air circulation is excellent, MUCH better than Ashe.

Wang Yafan lost to Petra Kvitová. Gaël Monfils retired to give the match to Kei Nishikori, I didn’t finish Lesia Tsurenko defeat Caroline Wozniacki (her outfits are always tasteful but not this one) in two sets (left 4-4 first set) – catching the 10:29 train home.

The American Express experience

This year at the Open, the design is the same but feel much solider than last year. They add the blue wrist band: spending $100, AE will reimbuse you $20.

Sexist …

What do you do when putting on your shirt inside out? You change it. But when Cornet changes it, albeit on court, the chair empire issues her a code  violation. Hi, why the boys do that don’t get code violation? US Open quickly appolized.

… this outfit, proves to be popular …

2 on 1

Someone said he’ll come but failed to show up, so we played two on one; the one is my partner and the two of us couldn’t get a win out of him. Therefore, you get the picture – that all the wins over the years are his doing -:) thanks buddy!

A paddled weekend

The paddle boat (Sun Dolphin goes for $665 on Amazon) is very functional (seems every home around Elm Lake owns one – I love it); the paddle board is a lot of fun too.
