An American in Paris?
Not a single one by now. The French Open is dominated by Vic (Serb) and Va (Russian): top four seeded men/women have 3 Vics and 2 Vas. Nikolay Davydenko ranked 4 is a Russian too (men’s name don’t end with -va). There is a total of 18 Russian girls in the drew. Where are my Chinese tennis dolls?
Ana Ivanovic is pretty, so is Maria Sharapova. Between these two, I prefer Maria (needs to clean up her face ..) who’s look is bit refined than Ana. Too bad Anna Kournikova isn’t around, I like her the most.
Not sure which one is worst: enduring Maria’s scream or watching Svetlana Kuznetsova and Jelena Jankovic play. This picture .. however briefly ranked – she’s #1 tennis player.. .. not a porn star .. ..
The Patrick girls
Danica has finally won, after 50 starts. She paid her dues, so its well deserved win. No longer just another Anna Kournikova but a champ. Hmmmm .. .. Anna competed with the girls and Danica with the boys. (Where is the other Patrick girl, Tera? I read about her in the Village Voice years ago, found her to be very attractive, a couple of classes above her peers. Then another year or two passed, one day I came across her again, by chance saw her on a NY channel TV with her boyfriend, sporting a army outfit, in support of the troops in Iraq. The only thing set me off was she’s done the implant, enlarged her pretty breasts – very ugly. Why would she do that is beyond me!)
Golfer Lorena Ochoa had win four titles in four weeks. Many in golf community, both men and women feel she could compete in PGA but she chose not to. She isn’t pretty or striking as Wei, so there isn’t much buzz about her. Perhaps also the fact she’s not an American.
Before I lost myself here, I’d better make the point ..
1. Everyone needs to pay her/his dues. Michelle Wei hasn’t won a single title, just jumped into PGA. For pete’s sake, Tiger Woods won 3 amateur titles before he turned pro. Now attending Stanford, Wei can’t even play on the school team, because she’d turned pro. What a screw up! Many players in golf as well as spectators are kind of glad, cause Wei bully her way around and that wasn’t pretty. Daddy Wei, pls call Richard Williams and learn a thing or two, will you? Not that I like Richard (the dancing ..) but he has my respect for bringing up two very happy and successful daughters.
2. Don’t know if any one noticed the media would play up a good looking female athlete regardless she’s won a title or not. But when it comes to a male athlete, the media treat the pretty boys very differently. Lance Armstrong is very good looking, Scott Adam is handsome, but I don’t see the media play up their looks. .. .. If this is the way surpose to be, then why are male bosses mindful when they complimenting on female employees .. Light me up Scott .. Am I missing something here?
The battle of the sexes
Billie Jean King (1943-) beat Bobby Riggs (1918-95) in three straight sets after he challenged her to a match in 1973. Matina Navratilova (1956-) lost to Jimmy Connors (1952-) 7-5, 6-2 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas in 1992. He gave her a dozen of roses and took home $500,000 winner-take-all prize. After the match, Patty Connors, the former playmate exclaimed that her husband wasn’t playing all that hard, “he can’t slam down on the girl!!” It’s funny and cute to see woman plays man, knowing well that the top woman can not beat the top ranked man, period. When Bobby played Billie, he’s 55 and she 30. Not sure he’s ever ranked #1.
Why should there be a war between the sexes is beyond me. Man has their places in the world we have ours. Shouldn’t we make love rather than war? Feminist, especially the American way is hypocrite. The current female presidential candidate is riding on her husband’s tail, she and other bright, expensively educated smart women are willing to be hauled onto the stage to be humiliated, in front of the entire world.
We grew up with the notion that there are only two sexes, male and female. Then enters the gay and lesbian. As if that’s not busy enough for us, we have bi-sexual, omnisexual, and transgender. The transmale, transfemale or transgeneration. It’s very unfortunate that some feels he or she born into the wrong body. Almost unthinkable. The biggest fear for those kids was losing family love and support. Would you love your child less when he or she decides to change gender, or give more since the child is negotiating a tough journey, mentally and physically?
